Hydrology is the science of determining the occurrence, distribution, movement and properties of waters and their environmental relationships. Hydrology deals with precipitation, evaporation, infiltration, groundwater flow, runoff, stream flow and the transportation of substances dissolved or suspended in flowing water. Hydrology concerns specifying the inputs of water and constituents to a water resource system, such as a river, lake or aquifer system, and tracing the motion of the water and constituents as they pass through the system.
